The Athens Democratic Party is scared of Ed Baum, the Ohio University professor emeritus and former councilman and republican and now mayoral hopeful. They seem to be losing faith in Paul Wiehl and fear losing the office as well as their firm hold on power in this town. So, instead of trying to out-spend, fox or debate, the democrats are doing one better: they're trying to get Ed Baum disqualified.

A student loan consolidation company that the Ohio University Alumni Association promotes is pulling out of its marketing agreements with over 100 alumni associations nationwide.

Court Street has four empty venues: the former Woolworth's beneath Skyview Apartments, 31 S. Court St., the city-owned Armory building, 2 W. Carpenter St., at the northern end of Court Street, the former Burger King, 28 S. Court St., next to the Athena Cinema, and Taco Bell's former location 41 S. Court St.

Driver arraigned, pleads not guilty

The woman involved in a two-car accident that lead to an Ohio Univeristy graduate student's death pleaded not guilty this week to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide along with two counts of obstructing justice, said prosecuting attorney Robert Driscoll.
