Two rape reports filed over winter break

The Ohio University Police Department received two reports of rape over winter break, according to a statement from the department. Both are being actively investigated by the OUPD.

The first, filed Dec. 23, concerned a female who was approached by a white, college-aged male while walking between Kantner Hall and the Athens City Parking Garage on South College Street. The male, whom the victim did not know, verbally threatened her and then allegedly engaged in sexual activity without consent. The alleged rape occurred in late August or early September.

The second case, filed Dec. 27, occurred Nov. 30. The female victim met with a male acquaintance in her room, where the male allegedly made sexual advances toward the victim. When the victim denied those advances, he allegedly pinned her down and engaged in sexual activity without consent.

If you believe you have information pertinent to either investigation, please contact OUPD at 740-593-1911 or anonymous tips may be made to Crime Solver Anonymous at 740-594-3331.
