Dining Services heeds students' concerns

At the beginning of Fall Quarter, Ohio University Dining Services limited student options at Boyd and Shively Grab 'n' Gos. After intervention by an Ohio University student committee, things are nearly back to normal.

OU's Dining Services Development Committee was instrumental in affecting the Grab 'n' Go policy change two weeks ago that offers an additional side dish to Grab 'n' Go's original limitation of one entr+

and then a week later they had the policy changed. Prabucki said.

Rich Neumann, director of Dining Services, said the department was open to student concerns regarding the Grab 'n' Go policy at the onset of the quarter.

After talking to the student advisory committee we decided that this would be something we could work with to accommodate the students

Neumann said. We did this because we're responsive to the needs and wants of the students.

Founded last academic year, the Dining Services Development Committee is a group of students who work as advisories to Dining Services. The committee, made up of 20 to 25 students and open to the public, serves as a liaison between students and university officials and addresses issues related to the dining halls, Prabucki said.

The committee is a specific assembly of people dedicated to working with Dining Services to address students' concerns

he said.

Prabucki said the committee has raised several other student concerns to Dining Services. It is working to provide more fresh fruit in the dining halls and a wider selection of sugar-free cereals.

We've found that Dining Services is very responsive

he said. When we ask for things

they will do their best to accommodate us.

All Dining Services Development Committee meetings are open to students. The next meeting will be Oct. 19 in Jefferson Dining Hall.
