The quarter zip is one of the five new items offered from the Ohio U collegiate collection.

Green is the new PINK with more Ohio U merchandise from Victoria’s Secret

More OU gear is available for Bobcats to purchase from Victoria’s Secret Collegiate Collection.

It’s what every preppy collegiate girl has been waiting for: Ohio University merchandise from Victoria’s Secret is ready to purchase and wear for the new school year.

Five products from the PINK Collegiate Collection are now available for Bobcats to purchase online. Some stores near Athens and Columbus, however, have already begun selling the clothing line following the announcement in May.

Since then, a green-and-white tank top has been advertised for the summer on the VS Pink at Ohio U Instagram account.

Sarah Rachul, a senior studying strategic communication and a representative next year for Ohio U Pink said she understands the collegiate line seems a little overdue for a big school like OU, but the legal process regarding trademarks is more difficult than most realize.

“Ohio State didn’t even get their gear right away,” she said. “They weren’t even one of the first schools to get a line, and they’re in the same city as headquarters for Victoria’s Secret. There’s just a lot of hoops to jump through.”

This new gear includes a long-sleeve crew, hoodie, quarter zip sweatshirt and a game day jersey, along with the original tank top. But, this kind of OU style comes with the Victoria’s Secret price. The new fall-inspired collection prices start at about $60. The tank top is priced at $29.95.

“If they shop at Victoria’s Secret on a regular basis, that’s standard pricing,” Rachul said. “The quarter zip may be a little more expensive than the standard ones, but you’re paying for both the VS and the OU brand. It’s the same thing when you get an Under Armour sweatshirt at the bookstore.”

Sixty-nine other schools, including OU, are now a part of the 2015 VS Pink Collegiate Collection. By having the Ohio U collection, it’s that much easier to promote the Pink brand and Ohio University, Rachul said.

“I found out about the new collection when I was in Disney, and I remember dropping my phone and screaming,” she said. “I would have loved to have the gear sooner, but I’m just grateful that it’s here now.”
