Column: 'Post' seniors say 'goodbye' to Ohio University

"Post" seniors reflect on their four years in Athens.

We’ve gotta say: It’s been a pretty interesting four years to be a Bobcat.

Interesting really is just one word for it, too.

Who could argue? A lot has happened. Plenty of us at The Post still have front pages from years ago, depicting things such as the 2013 active shooter threat or that time there was that crazy water shortage that left plenty of us in the dorms out of luck for a while.

We danced and sang at the Union (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, amiright?), then watched early one November morning — during the first snow of that winter — as fire crews tried to put out the flames that burned it.

We were here for the start of a campuswide discussion about rape culture, sparked by the Court Street sex act that made international headlines, and the outrage that ensued following the closing of OUSAP (which will be SAP next fall).

We fell in love with Tumbles, the adorable two-legged pup, fed too many groundhogs and learned that Athens squirrels have no fear.

We flocked in herds to Rio and sadly had to sit silently as it was taken away from us — just like that darn Jeff brunch.

Those are just some of the headlines, and they don’t begin to tell the story of four never-easy, always-memorable years at Ohio University.

We, along with everyone else, have seen a lot change at OU. A lot will continue to change, even once we’re gone.

We look forward to the selection of a new president, to the completion of the “new South Green,” to the renovation of certain facilities that really need it (looking at you, Clippinger Hall).

Hopefully we can also look forward to an age when tuition isn’t raised every other year.

Mostly, however, we look forward to always calling Athens our home.
