Coming off its lowest-scoring tournament of the season, Ohio heads to Richmond, Kentucky, this weekend for the 2017 Lady Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the University Club at Arlington.
The Bobcats are coming off a fifth-place finish at the River Landing Classic over spring break. That was the most consistent tournament of the year, coach Kelly Ovington said.
Hailey Hrynewich is coming off a second-place finish in the River Landing Classic and placed fifth in the 2016 Lady Colonel Classic.
The course is hilly, but Ohio is used to playing on hilly courses, Ovington said.
Last year at this tournament, Ohio placed fourth, with Hrynewich, Lily Pendy and Emily Hughes as the returners who scored for the team. Pendy finished in 19th, with Hughes just five spots back in 24th.
Nicole Smiley also has experience golfing at this course as she played as an individual last year, finishing 40th.
“We always want to go out and win it, but we should definitely be in the top three; that would be my expectation when we walk in there,” Ovington said.
