Claire traveled back through the stones in “Outlander”

In the latest episode of Outlander, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) discovered her true self and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) goes back through the stones to find Jamie (Sam Heughan). Here are the five biggest moments from Sunday’s episode of the STARZ drama.

Brianna struggles with the knowledge of who her real father is

At the beginning of the episode, Brianna was doodling in her notebook while in class at Harvard. Her professor spoke with her after class about how she was not doing well in multiple classes despite how smart she was. Later at home, Brianna and Claire got into a yelling match about Brianna dropping out of Harvard and moving out. Brianna admitted she wasn’t able to go back to her normal life after learning her real father was an eighteenth-century Scottish Highlander. Brianna struggled to come to terms with it because the news completely changed her mind about who she really was.

Roger comes to Boston with news

Roger (Richard Rankin) visited Boston to experience an “American Christmas” and also to talk to Claire about Jamie. Claire had originally gave up on searching for Jamie because she was afraid of “chasing a ghost,” but Roger’s information gave her hope. He found a document with Jamie’s alias, “Alexander Malcolm,” which are his middle names, which means Jamie was alive 20 years after Claire left. Claire was clearly distraught with the news because it meant she couldn’t live her life in Boston without always thinking about Jamie. She knew the only way for her to be truly happy again was to try to go back to Jamie.

Brianna and Claire reconnect

After a memorial for Frank (Tobias Menzies), Brianna and Claire reconnected after their argument. They agreed to only tell each other the truth and Brianna admitted she was afraid Claire resented her because she was the reason Claire left, however Claire assured her she was not. Brianna also confided in Claire that through her struggle to figure out which father she was more similar to, she discovered she was more like Claire. The mother-daughter moment was heartwarming to viewers who saw the two spend years struggling to understand each other.

Claire decides to go back to the stones

When Claire and Brianna reconnected, Claire shared with Brianna her concerns about returning to Jamie. Claire said may never be able to come back, which meant she would never be able to walk Brianna down the aisle or see Brianna become a mother. Brianna knew it would not be easy to let her mother go, but she knew she had to so Claire could be truly happy again. Brianna told Claire that if she is half the woman Claire was, she knew she could make it on her own. When Claire was still worried about leaving Brianna, Brianna told her mom she owed it to Jamie to tell him about her. Brianna showed how strong she was by telling Claire it was time for her to return her mother back to Jamie.

Jamie and Claire reunite

After Claire went back through the stones at Craigh na Dun, she traveled to where Jamie was working as a printer. When Claire entered Jamie’s printshop, he mistaked her for one of his employees. Claire announced that it was her, and Jamie fainted once he realized she was really there. Finally, the two soulmates finally came back to each other after spending two decades apart.

The next ‘Outlander’ episode will air Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. on STARZ.
