Good Morning,

Dog lovers, rejoice! Ohio may soon have a state dog.

State Rep. Jeffery Rezabek (R-Clayton) introduced House Bill 39 last week, which would recognize the Labrador retriever as Ohio's official state dog.

If the bill passes, Ohio would become the 13th state to designate an official dog, and the first recognize the Labrador.

Rezabek said the Labrador embodies Ohioan values.

"When you talk about Ohio, we always consider 'The Heart of it All,' and the Labrador is like the heart of your home," he said.

He also said the Labrador’s sporting and working type reflects Ohio’s fondness for sports and work ethic.
