TV Review: Michael’s new experiment will truly test humanity on ‘The Good Place’

Last week’s episode of The Good Place ended with the core four, Michael (Ted Danson) and Janet (D’Arcy Carden) calling a meeting with the judge (Maya Rudolph) in IHOP, or the Interdimensional House of Pancakes. The group planned to expose Earth’s complications to the judge so she may reconsider the point system.

However, she wasn’t easily convinced. To see life’s complication for herself, she made a trip to Earth to see if she agreed with their theory — and it turns out she did.

“Oh brother that was rough,” the judge said. “Sheesh, earth is a mess.”

After some negotiation with the judge and the bad place representative, Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson), they decided to create a new neighborhood in the medium place. The neighborhood would eliminate all of earth’s complications. It would also give four new people of equal bad standing with the core four a chance to redeem themselves and prove that the point system is corrupt.

Meanwhile, Jason (Manny Jacinto) confessed to Janet his feelings for her, and told her he wanted to give their relationship another try. However, when they arrived to the medium place, Janet’s old boyfriend, Derek (Jason Mantzoukas), showed up and made Jason jealous.

Though there were some adorable Cheleanor and Jananson ship moments in Thursday’s episode, the audience focal point was by far the announcement of the four new subjects that will be put in the fake good place.

Here’s how audiences reacted on Twitter:

The Good Place airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
