A petition to sell Montana to Canada is growing in support; meet the new assistant director of the Ohio University Women’s Center

Today is Friday, Feb. 22, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

An online petition proposing the U.S. sells Montana to Canada is gaining attention, according to a recent report

Its creators hope that by selling Montana for $1 trillion, the U.S. could reduce its overall debt.

The petition has been signed by more than 13,000 people on Change.org since its creation last week.

Many of the supporters have commented on the campaign, and the description of the petition, written by creator Ian Hammond, reads: “We have too much debt and Montana is useless. Just tell them it has beavers or something.”
