National Geographic named OU one of the top places to see cherry blossoms; here are highlights from Moms Weekend and the International Street Fair

Today is Monday, April 8, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

The gorgeous cherry blossoms trees of Ohio University have earned national recognition. National Geographic released a list of the best places in the U.S. to see cherry blossoms, and the 217 trees that stretch the familiar bike path made the cut.

The trees were a gift from Chubu University, an OU sister school in Japan, and are lit for late-night viewing across from Bob Wren Stadium. The Japanese Student Association hosts a Sakura Festival with a plethora of events annually to commemorate the flowering of the blossoms.

National Geographic highlighted that OU’s trees are currently in peak bloom, so take a friend and go tree gazing to see for yourself why they deserve national acclaim.

Other places that earned a spot on the list include the International Cherry Blossom Festival in Georgia and Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in New York.
