TV Review: Hannah B. begins her not-so-perfect journey on ‘The Bachelorette’

Buckle up, rose lovers: it’s time for another spicy season of The Bachelorette. What’s in store for Bachelor Nation? You guessed it: the “most dramatic season yet!”

Miss Alabama USA 2018, Hannah Brown, will carry the baton as the fifteenth Bachelorette. The 24-year-old previously made her Bachelor Nation debut on Colton Underwood’s season and drew a negative light from her rivalry with Caelynn Miller-Keyes. But the “Hot Mess Express” is back … and she’s ready for love.

Instead of waiting to be crowned herself, the beauty queen will have to crown one of the thirty contestants in the end. Hopefully, she will gain a few toasting skills along the way. Roll Tide!

Here’s some highlights from night one you may have missed:

Memorable Entrances

First impressions are vital on night one. Some do the subtle handshake and brief greeting route, while others choose to make their presence creative and memorable. A few unforgettable entrances included “Roll Tide” Ryan on roller skates, Connor S. with the inevitable fence jump and Cam trying to rap his way into Hannah’s heart.

When two pilots are within the group of thirty bachelors, that first impression becomes all the more important in order to stand out. Peter stepped in fully armed with his pilot uniform and charming character. Simply put, Hannah was here for it.

He made his entrance all the more heartwarming by gifting her a pair of pilot wings, stating, “At the end of this journey, I hope we can fly away together.”

Another pilot, Chasen, quickly had cold feet when he realized he made a mistake not arriving in his own uniform. After a few not-so-memorable moments with Hannah, Chasen got the chopping block at the end of the night. You can’t fight the uniform.

Hannah’s “Angels”

For the first time in Bachelorette history, there were a few guardian angels for the night. Previous contestants, Demi Burnett and Katie Morton, had eyes behind the scenes of each conversation from a not-so-subtle white van outside the mansion.

The mission of the night? Find the contestant with a GIRLFRIEND.

The night took a wicked turn when Demi and Katie revealed Scott’s current relationship status to the Bachelorette. Hannah quickly erupted at the news — leading to a heated conversation between the two.

In a nutshell, she’s not messing around and immediately ushered Scott out the door.

First Impression Rose

Right out of the limo, Luke P. made his presence with a smooth charm and eventually earned the first impression rose at the end of the night. He became a knight in shining armor as he came to Hannah’s rescue in wake of the drama. During her time on The Bachelor, Hannah made her struggles with anxiety very clear. Luke provided her a moment of solace during the tense moment and calmed the nerves.

However, his intentions are rather questionable due to the pre-season interview when he talks about his good looks, stating, “When I was in college, a lot of girls thought so, too ... and I definitely took advantage of that.” Has his recent religious awakening changed his striking demeanor? We’ll find out soon.

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
