Athens-themed trivia card game going to print this week

A former Ohio University employee is now selling an Athens-themed trivia game she created.

Amy McKee is the creator of Uptown Athens Trivia, a card game meant to test both current students and alumni alike with 110 questions about Uptown Athens’ nightlife, historical events, food and more.

McKee, who now lives in Columbus, became acquainted with the Athens business community during her time as the assistant director of strategic partnerships with the Ohio University Alumni Association. She also worked with Ohio Brew Week and operated the Athens-themed online shop, shopathensohio.com, until she sold it to Kiser’s Barbeque in 2016.

She said the trivia game was the result of wanting to combine all the products on her former website into one complete Athens package.

McKee launched the game’s website June 2 and said she has been pleased with the number of preorders she has received.

The game will also be sold on shopathensohio.com and at multiple Athens businesses.

McKee met with people from businesses featured in the game for background knowledge so that people can learn something while playing the game. She also met with the Southeast Ohio History Center, which will receive an unknown portion of the proceeds of the game, to learn about the history of Athens.

McKee said the game is cross-generational and will challenge alumni from different eras.

The game will be shipped in early July for those who preordered in June.

Every deck comes with discount cards for Bagel Street Deli, Donkey Coffee, The Pub, the Burrito Buggy and Athens Passion Works.

McKee said she is also working on an Ohio State-themed trivia game as well as games for other colleges in the Midwest.
