Weekender Briefs: Check out some cool cars and motorcycles; enjoy the marvels of space through a telescope

 Friday

Ralph White, Dead Gowns and Caitlin Kraus at 6 p.m. at Jackie O’s Taproom, 25 Campbell St. Enjoy a fun evening of music and drinks.

Public Telescope Night at 9 p.m. at The Observatory at The Ridges. Bring your whole family to see the wonders of space, including star clusters and distant galaxies. What you see will depend on the evening’s sky conditions. This event will also take place on Saturday at the same time.

Matt Petty and The Whiskey Chasers at 10 p.m. at The Smiling Skull Saloon, 108 W. Union St. Jam out to some folk tunes from this West Virginia-based band.

Second Annual Car and Motorcycle Show at 2 p.m. at The Market On State, 1002 E. State St. Check out some cool vehicles while benefiting local veterans. There will be plenty of food, music and fun.

Jeanie and the Dreamers at 7 p.m. at Little Fish Brewing Company, 8675 Armitage Road. Indulge in good food while listening to this Athens-based trio on the patio at Little Fish.

Athens Brick Criterium Afterparty at 8:30 p.m. at The Union Bar and Grill, 18 W. Union St. Attend the official afterparty of the historic Athens Brick Criterium bike races. Performances by The D-Rays and DJ Johnny Clift will be sure to light up the evening.

Triceratops at 10 p.m. at The Smiling Skull Saloon. If you’re into “stoner rock,” then this show is for you. Attend the band’s first ever show in Athens.

Scotch Doubles League at 6 p.m. at Rollerbowl Lanes, 28 Palmer St. Find a partner and enjoy this cool twist on bowling. One member of the team throws the first shot in the frame, and the other person throws the second. All are welcome and teams may register by emailing rollerbowllanes@yahoo.com.
