Nicolas Cage will star as Joe Exotic in a new scripted series centered around the subject of the Netflix documentary series Tiger King.
The series will feature eight episodes based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstad.
It follows Joe Schreibvogel, or Joe Exotic, who, according to an article from Variety, is a “zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park even at the risk of losing his sanity.”
The series will be produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios, with Cage executive producing. After winning an Academy Award and having several nominations for other awards, Cage will also star in the series, making it his first regular television role in his entire career.
Tiger King was a huge sensation among the media when it was released on Netflix in March. There are several new adaptations, memes and articles that have come out of the documentary series, and fans are just excited to see Cage shine in this adaptation.
