Weekly Weather: Drying out to start the weekend, warm-up to come next week

A look at the weekend:

A system late this week will bring a mixed bag of precipitation moving into Friday. It will be icy late Thursday, as rain will fall during the night hours and into Friday morning. That will make for a wet start to the weekend, until high pressure builds in to follow, making for partly cloudy conditions. Highs throughout the weekend will remain in the low 40s, with lows in the upper teens to low 20s.

Coming up next week:

Next week will start off cold but dry. High pressure will steady throughout the week, so there’s a very slim chance the Athens region will see any major precipitation during the week. High temperatures will start off in the mid 30s to lower 40s, but gradually warm up as the week progresses, reaching the mid 50s by the end of the week. Clouds will filter in and out, which may alter temperatures a bit depending on how the week progresses.
