Soccer: Ohio wraps up nonconference schedule at home against Western Carolina

Ohio wraps up its nonconference schedule this Friday. Here is everything you need to know about Ohio’s opponent, Western Carolina:

Match Information

Opponent: Western Carolina

Venue: Chessa Field

Time: 2 p.m.

- These two teams played last year with Western Carolina winning 3-0.

- Western Carolina is 1-2-4 on the season with three of the four draws being scoreless.

- They made it to their conference semifinals last season but were eliminated by Furman, 1-0.

Player to watch: Sophomore Naya Marcil has started all six games for Western Carolina and is the team’s leading shot taker with 16 shots. Look for her to be aggressive offensively early in this game.

Notes on Ohio

- Ohio is coming off of a 3-1 loss to the No. 6 team in the country, Notre Dame.

- This is Ohio’s first home game in nearly two weeks, and its first since a car accident damaged the field last week.

- Graduate student Abby Townsend has led the Ohio offense by scoring in the last three games.

Player to watch: Redshirt senior Sam Wexell returned from injury last game, starting the second half in goal for the Bobcats. Will she or Celeste Sloma get the start Friday, or, will the Bobcats play multiple goalies?
