OU names interim vice president for student affairs, dean of students

On Thursday, Ohio University President Hugh Sherman named Dr. Lyn Redington the new interim vice president for student affairs, effective Jan. 9.

Redington will replace the current Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, William Schafer, who has served in the role since July 2022.

According to a university news release, Redington is an experienced student affairs professional who most recently served as the vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Idaho State University.

“Lyn has demonstrated proven success in revitalizing the student experience, which aligns well with our vision for OHIO,” Sherman said in the release. “I am confident that her extensive leadership in student affairs and higher education will provide for a seamless transition.”

In addition to naming Redington as interim vice president for student affairs, Kathy Fahl, the interim dean of students, will be permanently serving in her current role, effective immediately.

According to the release, the university plans to conduct a search for a permanent vice president for student affairs alongside the search for the university’s next president. Redington will continue to serve in the role until a permanent candidate is found.
