Police Blotter: Individuals found walking from Florida to Ohio, horses on the run

Creep

A possible stalking was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

An officer went to where the caller was staying and spoke with her and filed a report. 

Contradictory

A stolen vehicle on Bails Road in Athens was reported to the Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy responded to the caller’s residence and spoke with him. It was found that no criminal offense had taken place, but a report was filed.

Snooze button

A juvenile refusing to go to school in Chauncey was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. 

Once deputies arrived, they discovered that the juvenile and their mother had left the scene. Deputies spoke with the complainant on scene and no further action was necessary.

Sneaky snake

A report of a cell phone being hacked by an unknown individual at an address on Coal Run Road in Chauncey, was received by Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Upon arrival, officers made no contact with the alleged reporter, and deputies returned to patrol.

Skrrrrrrt

An erratic driver near the Kroger in Trimble was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

An officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate the suspect.

I don’t have time for this!

Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to State Route 13 in Millfield to help the Athens County EMS with a motor vehicle accident. Deputies were told that a man who was involved in the accident had walked away from the scene. 

Once deputies arrived, the male had been located and was back on the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived and took a report.

Neigh-way!

Horses running loose were reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were able to find and tell the owner about the situation.

Where’s the leash?!

A dog running in and out of traffic in Nelsonville was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies could not find the dog.

Dedicated

Suspicious people on Route 50 in Guysville were reported to the Sheriff’s Office. 

Deputies made contact with the individuals, learning that they were traveling on foot from Florida toward Columbus. 

Deputies gave them a courtesy ride to Athens because the individuals were trying to get to a bus station.

Zoom

Suspicious activity on Bessmer Road in Buchtel was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller stated that she heard glass break and saw a man on a dirt bike leave the property, which is abandoned. Deputies searched the property but had no contact with the suspect.

You’re it

A third-party complaint of domestic violence was reported to the Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, deputies found that it was two children playing tag and returned to patrol.

Screw-ed over

Stolen tools in Shade were reported to the Sheriff’s Office. A report was made and as of Monday, an investigation is pending.

Angry neighbor

Threats to a neighbor on Mill Street in Chauncey were reported to deputies. Officers spoke with the complainant and the issue was resolved on scene.

Helping a brother out

The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in New Marshfield to help EMS with a call regarding a combative, intoxicated male.

Upon arrival, it was found that the man would benefit from a mental health evaluation, and was transported to the hospital.
