Weekender Briefs: Hunt for Easter Eggs, enjoy the International Street Fair

Friday, April 7:

A Wildflower Walk will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Lake Hope State Park, meeting at the Hope Furnace parking area. The moderate three-mile hike will seek out budding flowers around the perimeter of Lake Hope.

Admission: Free

The Sexual Health Resource Fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Baker Hall’s third floor, room 366 and the third floor atrium. Hosted by the Office of Health Promotion, interested parties can stop by for free giveaways including condoms, dental dams and lube. Participants can also chat with resources including the hosts, Equitas, Planned Parenthood, the LGBT Center and the Women’s Center.

A Friday Volunteering Opportunity as part of International Week will take place from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Good Works Luhrig Road property, 7857 Luhrig Road. The event, which is hosted by the International Student Union, invites everyone to volunteer in creating a free meal for anyone.

Saturday, April 8:

The International Street Fair returns from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Howard Park across from College Green. Come and enjoy food from around the world to enjoy the global diversity at Ohio University and to celebrate the international community in Athens.

Admission: Free

A Bunny Hop will start at 2 p.m. at Petland, 977 E. State St., and is open to both families and pets. Fun activities planned include photos with the Easter bunny, a bunny hopscotch, an Easter egg hunt and more. Whoever finds the golden egg will win a $50 Petland Athens gift card.

A workshop exploring the Fundamentals of Appalachian Folk Magic will take place at Chosen Pathways Spiritual Emporium, 400 E. State St., from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Participants will dive into elements of Magick and an understanding of nature’s connectivity to spiritual practices.

Admission: $10

A concert at the Union, 18 W. State St., invites music enthusiasts to arrive at 8 p.m. when doors open. The show will feature Top’d Off, Ready Aim Flowers, Rylee Bapst, Halle Dray and Ryan Kilkenny.

Sunday, April 9: 

The annual Easter egg hunt at Little Fish Brewing Company, 8675 Armitage Road, returns at 1 p.m. for kids aged 3 and under and again at 2 p.m. for kids 4-12. The hunt is open to all, as adults can roam with a beverage while kids hunt for eggs.

Admission: Free

An Easter Brunch will commence at 9 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. at Burr Oak Lodge, 10660 Burr Oak Lodge Road. Visitors can enjoy views of the lake during their meal. Reservations are required for the all-you-can-eat brunch, which will include waffles, chicken strips, assorted desserts and more.

Admission: $26.95 for adults, $14.95 for children aged 3-11 and free for children under 3.
