Women's Basketball: Ohio lands Dayton transfer Anyssa Jones, Wake Forest transfer Aliah McWhorter

On Wednesday night, Ohio women’s basketball announced on its website that it would be adding transfer players Anyssa Jones and Aliah McWhorter for the 2024-25 season. Both Jones and McWhorter will join the team as graduate students in their last year of eligibility.

Jones, a 5-foot-10-inch guard from Westerville, Ohio, will come to Athens after spending the previous two seasons at Dayton. Before Dayton, Jones played her first two seasons of college basketball at Ohio State. Last year at Dayton, Jones averaged 8.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game.

McWhorter will also be returning to play in her home state, as the 6-foot-1-inch guard hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent the last four years at Wake Forest. She spent two years off the court dealing with injury, holding her to just 14 games played last season.

Prior to being a Demon Deacon, McWhorter was a decorated high school player, scoring over 1,000 points in her career and was an Ohio All-State selection in 2020.

Jones and McWhorter will join a roster featuring returning players such as Jaya McClure, Bailey Tabeling and Kate Dennis for the 2024-25 season.
