Very much responsive
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to state Route 13 after reports of an unresponsive man in a car. Deputies were able to make contact with the man, who was awake and on his phone. The man did not require any assistance.
Get these darn goats under control
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Vore Ridge Road after receiving reports of loose goats on a neighboring property. Deputies were able to return the goats to their owners, and the owner was told to keep the goats on their property. Patrol resumed afterward.
Saturday, Sept. 19
Harassment
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call from an individual saying they were being harassed by another individual. The caller wanted the incident documented. Deputies took a report in case the harassment continues.
Domestic dispute
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Baker Road in Athens after receiving a report regarding a domestic dispute. Deputies on the scene determined that the fight had been verbal. The involved parties were separated, with one party agreeing to leave the scene. Deputies resumed patrol after clearing the area.
Sunday, Sept. 20
Shots fired
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Vore Ridge Road after a report of gunshots in the area. Deputies on the scene spoke with the caller, saying the gunshots sounded like they were coming from their neighbor’s property and they were nervous. Deputies were able to speak with the neighbor, who told deputies they were shooting in a safe direction. Deputies determined nothing illegal was taking place, and they left the scene.
Well-being check
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office attempted to respond to Rockcamp Road in New Marshfield to conduct a well-being check, but due to flooding, they were unable to reach the residence. Waterloo Fire Department was sent to check on the individual, but determined no one was at the residence.
Monday, Sept. 21
Warrants of the week
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office has warrants of arrest out for Michael Cranston and Brandon Masters. Cranston was wanted for possession of drugs, but was arrested Tuesday. Masters is wanted for failure to comply, possession of drugs and identity fraud. Masters was also located and arrested.
Threats made
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to New Story School in Albany after threats were made. Deputies determined a juvenile was responsible for the threats, and the case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for review and consideration of any potential criminal charges. The juvenile was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Tuesday, Sept. 22
Bees in the car
Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Millfield after a call about a swarm of bees in a car. Deputies on the scene spoke with the individual and were able to remove the swarm of bees. There were no injuries.
Too dang loud
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to The Plains after receiving a noise complaint. Deputies on the scene did not hear any noises, but believed the source of the noise was a freight delivery at a nearby business.
Wednesday, Sept. 23
Sound the alarm
Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a business in Glouster after its automated alarm went off. Deputies on the scene determined that everything at the business was secure.
So no cigarettes?
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the EZ Mart in Glouster following a report that a man was causing problems. The man was irate because the store was closed and would not sell him any cigarettes. The man left before deputies arrived on the scene, and deputies were unable to locate him. At the time the media report was released, the case was still under investigation.
Thursday, Sept. 24
Chase those kids
Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Glouster after reports of a loose turkey chasing children. Deputies on the scene spoke with all involved parties and were able to locate the turkey. The turkey was returned to its home, and patrol resumed.
Trespass warning
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Glouster after reports of an active verbal dispute. Deputies took a report of the events after speaking with all involved parties. Deputies served a trespass warning to one individual. Patrol later resumed.
