About 200 Ohio men's basketball supporters gathered at The Convo Monday night to celebrate the team's run to the Sweet 16 during the NCAA Tournament in March.

Those in attendance included current head coach Jim Christian and most of his staff as well as former coach John Groce and his staff.

The majority of the team as well as university president Roderick McDavis and Director of Athletics Jim Schaus were also in attendance.

McDavis, Schaus, Groce and Christian each spoke for about 10 minutes.

Groce shared memories from the past season while also imploring his former team to achieve continued success — specifically a regular-season Mid-American Conference championship, something the team never achieved under Groce.

"I want to see another year on that regular-season banner," Groce said while pointing to The Convo's rafters. "Consistency over greatness, that's one thing this group hasn't done yet."

Christian won four regular-season crowns in six seasons at Kent State, and insisted that he would try to do the same at Ohio.

"I'm going to do everything in my power to show this team how to win a regular-season championship," Christian said.
