‘The Revenant’ leads with twelve, many films are snubbed.

Following the Golden Globes, it’s the moment every movie buff waits for— Oscar Nominations.

To no one’s surprise, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s The Revenant leads with a total of 12 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actors in Leading and Supporting Roles. Mad Max: Fury Road is a close second with 10 nominations. Brooklyn — a film about an Irish immigrant’s adjustment to New York — was only nominated for one Golden Globe, but managed pick up three nominations, including Best Picture. One of the big surprises is Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies nomination for Best Picture. I thought the film was good, but not Oscar-worthy.

Some notable snubs of the year include The Danish Girl, which is surprisingly not nominated for Best Picture or Cinematography. Will Smith did not get nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Concussion. Ridley Scott, director of The Martian — which is not a comedy, by the way — is not a contender for Best Director. In the Best Actress in a Leading Role, one name that is absent is Amy Schumer. In fact, Trainwreck is nominated for zero Academy Awards. The Good Dinosaur and The Peanuts Movie were snubbed for Best Animated Feature.

As usual, the criticism rolls in for multiple snubbed films, but here is the complete list of nominees for 2016:
