Wildland firefighters stationed in Wayne National Forest respond to a call in Nelsonville on Oct. 18. This was a small incident that they described as a good training exercise. Their jobs can include managing larger “prescribed burns” essential to keeping the forest ecosystem healthy, as well as traveling across the country to fight larger, more dangerous wildfires.
