Engineering students work together to build Baja car

A team of engineering students are working together to build a Baja car, which is a vehicle made for off-road terrain. This experience is a chance for engineering students to take what they've learned in the classroom and also compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Competition. Not only is this an opportunity for students to participate in experiential learning, but it also is a direct pathway into a career for some students. Crowds pour in to Bagel Street Deli for Picklefest

Friday, hundreds of people packed Bagel Street Deli for its annual Picklefest, a pickle eating competition. OU graduate student transforms chemotherapy education

Abel Jarrahi, a Scripps College of Communication graduate student has created a company called VR Medical Solutions for his project, "Chemotherapy Unveiled". It simulates a chemotherapy facility to ease the initial anxiety and confusion of chemotherapy treatments, helping patients feel more prepared. Jarrahi says his research confirms the effectiveness of virtual reality in medical education and addressing real-world challenges. Sisterhood of the Traveling Dresses brings a glimmer to girls' lives

Student Senate celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community with Pride Week

Hundreds gather to protest the removal of DEI programs at OU

Thursday, hundreds of students protested against OU’s lack of communication about Senate Bill 1 and President Donald Trump’s executive order to ban diversity, equity and inclusion programs at public institutions. According to the “Dear Colleagues Letter,” written by Trump and the Department of Education, they said universities need to stop treating people differently based on one’s race. Students responded and said certain groups of people already start at a disadvantage, so they need additional resources to mitigate the gap. Protestors rally against Elon Musk, the introduction of DOGE

Over the weekend, protestors gathered before the Tesla dealership at Easton Town Center in Columbus to protest against Elon Musk and his new DOGE policies. DOGE stands for Department of Government Efficiency and its purpose is to modernize governmental efficiency through spending cuts. Protestors are concerned this poses risks to American's data, health and safety rights, wages and essential services. The film specifically addresses how women get less then 2% of venture capital funding, and it follows four successful entrepreneurs who turn their dreams into a reality. Triota Honors Society discusses concerns with gender-based violence and SB 1

'Move Better, Do Better': OU professor inspires Athens community to stay active

OU professor in the Human Anatomy and Biological Sciences departments, Ian Klein, created a fitness class called 'Move Better, Do Better' almost two years ago. This program is more than just a workout, as it's a space for the Athens community to improve their well-being through guided exercises, designed to build strength, flexibility and balance. A member of the class says she loves it because it a low impact class with high reward. Despite the class being free, Klein does accept donations from attendees to give back to various charities. He says they've raised about 2,000 dollars so far. Esports gains popularity at OU
