Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of events have been canceled or rescheduled. However, some organizations and Athens groups are adapting to the Ohio stay-at-home order and hosting events online through virtual services, like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Here’s a list of some events still happening this week:
Friday, July 10
Virtual Gardening: Plant Propagation at 3 p.m., hosted by Growing Athens County. Join the Athens County Master Gardeners via Zoom to learn how to propagate plants. The event is open to all ages, and no prior knowledge is needed.

Bangers 3: Revenge of the Sith at 9 p.m., hosted by DJ B-Funk, DJ Barticus and WOUB Public Media. Though places have started to open up, DJ Barticus feels that mass gatherings aren’t the greatest idea for people’s health. Join the livestream through Twitch.tv or through Instagram @bartykutz.

Saturday, July 11
Yoga in the Park at 9:30 a.m., hosted by Athens Yoga. Join various instructors for a socially distant outdoor yoga class. Links to pay the instructors are on the Facebook page.

Sunday, July 12
Subversive Domesticities at 11:00 a.m., hosted by ARTS/West. The solo show features the work of Ohio University MFA candidate Fiona Avocado. The show is on display until July 29 and is viewable by appointment, so call 740-592-4315 or email ebeveridge@ci.athens.oh.us to schedule.

Streaming Live Dylan O. Flanner Full Concert at 7 p.m., hosted by Everything with Music. Watch Flanner’s full concert from Little Fish Brewery online. Tune in to the livestream with the link on the Facebook event page, and make sure to register prior to the concert’s stream date.

Wednesday, July 15
CASA Book Club at 4 p.m., hosted by Athens County CASA/GAL Program. Join them for the book club meeting of the collection of poems titled “Hum” by Jamaal May. The virtual discussion will last for about an hour, and people can participate no matter how far into the book they are.

Virtual Screening: Lunch Love Community at 6:30 p.m., hosted by OU Sustainability Films. This episodic “open space documentary” explores questions through a mosaic of 12 short films looking at issues around food reform, health, community sustainability and citizen-based democracy.
