Wednesday, May 7

Fairground freakout

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Athens County Fairgrounds after a caller reported a disorderly person.

The caller said a man was yelling and making people nervous at a student move-out event. Deputies then told everyone present to keep to themselves.

What doesn’t belong

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle broke down and the owner left it in front of a house. When the owner returned to retrieve the vehicle, the license plate was stolen.

The plate was then entered into the Law Enforcement Automated Data System as stolen.

Thursday, May 8

Picnic time

On East Fourth Street, Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a white powdery substance being separated by individuals near picnic tables.

Deputies found the individuals, but no powdery substance.

Argument over finances

A domestic dispute took place on May Avenue in Chauncey, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were informed once at the scene the dispute was over financial issues. Deputies then filed a report, and those involved agreed to stay separate.

Friday, May 9

Actually, we live here

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of people trespassing at a residence on Pepper Lane in The Plains.

Deputies arrived at the scene and determined the people trespassing were residing there. Deputies explained the eviction process to the complainant.

Gotta get out of here

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a domestic dispute report from Oak Street in The Plains.

After deputies spoke with the complainant and a witness, they learned the suspect had fled the scene. Deputies took statements, and criminal charges will be filed.

Saturday, May 10

Wrong turn to the next hole

Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a golf cart speeding down Imperial Street in Doanville.

Deputies patrolled the area for the golf cart but were unable to find it.

Another person’s treasure

Individuals were reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office for dumpster diving on South Plains Road in The Plains.

Deputies checked if the dumpster diving was okay with those in charge of the dumpster, and they said it was not an issue.

Sunday, May 11

You know you are wanted … right?

Deputies were performing a paper service when it was discovered the person for whom the service pertained had a warrant for arrest, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies then processed a bond payment instead of an arrest.

The ‘complaint’ line

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, a man reported over the phone he was unhappy with his electrician's work at his residence.

Deputies advised the man the issue was civil.

Tuesday, May 13

He was not sleeping

A suspicious person was reported lying on the ground sleeping in someone’s driveway in Chauncey, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies discovered an elderly man had fallen and was experiencing a health problem. Emergency Medical Services were called, and the man was taken to the hospital.

No phone for you

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a dispute between a husband and wife. During the dispute, the husband turned off the wife's and daughter’s phones.

Deputies took a report and returned to routine patrol.
