The Athens City-County Health Department reported three new deaths related to COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 71 deaths in the county.
Athens County remains in the red risk level category of the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, meaning there are extremely high levels of COVID-19 exposure and spread.
The department also reported 530 active cases and 26 new cases, which is down from the 956 presumed active cases Sept. 21, according to a previous Post report.
As of Tuesday, 47.61% of Athens residents have started the vaccination process, and 44.68% have completed the vaccination process, according to the health department.
