Weekender Briefs: Visit the Observatory, hear local Athens artists

Friday, August 13

Sneakthief with Jon Jon Jon Slater at 7 p.m., at Donkey Coffee & Espresso, 17 W. Washington St. 

Admission: Free

Gallery Show with Hannah Sickles, Maria Freed and Terry Fortkamp at 5 p.m., at ARTS/West, 132 W. Union St. The gallery will be on display through Aug. 27.

Ohio University Observatory Public Nights at 9 p.m., at Ohio University Observatory, 174 Water Tower Dr. The event will be open to the public and canceled if it’s cloudy or rainy. The event will also take place on Saturday at the same time.

Saturday, August 14

Steve Zarate, Jeanie Thieken Creamer and Steve Carlson at 7 p.m., at Donkey Coffee. The artists will play their newest compositions at the show. 

Admission: Free

Athens Farmers Market at 9 a.m., hosted by the Athens Farmers Market, 1002 E. State St. Shop for locally grown and locally made foods and goods at the farmers market. The market accepts SNAP and credit cards. Masks are recommended, and social distancing protocols are in place.

Sunday, August 15

Auditions for ABC Players at 4 p.m., at Stuart's Opera House, 52 Public Square. Director Celeste Parsons will be hosting auditions for Radium Girls
