A recent decision by a middle school in Portland, Maine, to distribute birth control to its students has reignited the debate over the role of sex education in our public schools.-
say the progressives. But knowing more about sex and having more sex than previous generations doesn't mean they're growing up faster. It implies nothing about actual maturity, emotional or otherwise. More often than not, this is due to the unfortunate absence of a moral authority in children's lives. The progressives argue that policies like King Middle School's are necessary for kids who come from broken homes, who often have no parents in the proper sense. Let's examine this further. What their argument really means is that when parents fail, we are to place trust in the government.- 17
