Weekly Weather: Chance of rain over the weekend, calm conditions next week

A look at the weekend:

On Friday, the high-pressure system that has lingered over the Athens area all week will move out of the area and bring in a cold front. This will create a chance for showers late Friday night, with a slight chance for thunderstorms. The highs on Friday will be in the low 80s, with lows dropping below 60.

Saturday, the chance for rain will end by mid-afternoon as the cold front passes and high pressure will increase behind the front. The cold front won’t allow temperatures to increase by much throughout the day, with highs in the low 60s and lows reaching near 40.

Sunday will not be much different than Saturday, with dry and calm weather. It will be sunny all day, with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the low-40s.

Coming up next week:

Conditions around the Athens area will remain calm, dry and warm throughout the week as high pressure remains. We will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s every day until a low-pressure system pushes through towards the end of the week and causes temperatures to drop below normal and brings a chance for rain before the weekend.
