Award-winning vocalist to perform country hits, newest single, tonight

Ohio University will welcome country music star Josh Turner to campus tonight.

Grammy-nominated Turner will be performing at 8 p.m. tonight in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

Turner debuted his first hit, Long Black Train

in 2001 on the Grand Ole Opry. Since then, he has become popular in the country music scene.

Turner's 2006 album Your Man became one of only four country albums to reach double platinum.

In 2007, the Country Music Association Awards nominated Turner for Male Vocalist of the Year. That same year, Vince Gill inducted him in to the Grand Ole Opry. Turner is the second-youngest artist to be inducted.

Turner's latest album, Everything is Fine, contained three hit singles: Firecracker Another Try featuring Trisha Yearwood and Everything is Fine.

Haywire, his fourth album, is to be released Nov. 10. Turner recently released his first single off this album, Why Don't We Just Dance. The song debuted at No. 57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of Sept. 5.

Opening for Turner is new country artist Jason Jones.
