On Sept. 22, at 2:19 p.m., the fall season officially started. While many students across are excited to take part in dozens of seasonal activities, such as pumpkin carving and Halloween, others are excited to cozy up and watch their favorite movies this autumn. As the leaves shift from green to brown, students are excited to watch everything from romance movies to horror flicks.

The 2025 NFL season is underway. Teams are rising, young stars are emerging, shootout games are in full swing and we’ve already seen stunning comebacks. With the race to Super Bowl LX underway, weeks one and two have shown that NFL fans are in for a real treat. If these early fireworks are any indication, then we are going to see one of the most fiery and unpredictable seasons in recent memory.

The Pawpaw Festival, one of Southeast Ohio’s classic events, returned for its 27th year in Albany, Ohio, at Lake Snowden, bringing some wonderful musical performances. In the scorching heat of a Saturday afternoon, artists displayed musical talent and crowd interactions that kept the day cool despite the temperatures.

Ohio University’s campus is gorgeous. The trees, flowers and friendly students make a great atmosphere for young people from around the world to learn. However, there is a common misconception that such an environment creates a bubble that shields students from the outside world, a misconception that paints Athens as a liberally-minded wonderland filled with new ideas and investments. What people commonly reference in this idealistic belief is the city of Athens, not Athens County.

President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law July 4 and includes major cuts to Medicaid, according to a report by the Associated Press. The bill will require Medicaid holders to work 80 hours a week, as well as increase eligibility checks from once a year to twice a year.

On the night of Aug. 28th, the Athena cinema held a screening of the critically-acclaimed Best Picture winner “Parasite,” directed by Bong Joon Ho in 2019. After putting off watching the film for years, I can wholeheartedly recommend it to all fans of film as a medium, even those who may be put off by the film being spoken entirely in Korean.

But sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is walk away. Later in life, you’ll look back and see a map of where you came from, with many footprints joining and leaving your side, and it will be beautiful.
