The United Auto Workers are striking against the top three manufacturing companies in the U.S., and the workers are in their fourth week of walkouts. Although the closest strikes are in Streetsboro, Toledo and West Chester, as identified by the New York Times, college students at Ohio University may begin to feel the effects of the national strikes.

I’ve picked up a few Halloween traditions over the years. Some are relevant to this column’s usual subject matter; most Octobers, I will replay “Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion,” and I always like to start and complete a brand new horror game. However, my favorite tradition is the list.

As soon as Ohio and Calvin hit the ice Friday night, it was clear that the game was going to be a fierce battle. Ending the game with a 2-3 loss, the Bobcats have improvements to make for the remainder of their season. Head coach Lionel Mauron recognized the struggles that the team faced in this particular game.

My early high school years were, unsurprisingly, not amazing. Being a gay band kid in a rural, sports-centric school district was not easy, especially as an underclassman. In those first two years, pop-punk music became a huge escape for me. Ever since the first time our band played “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” by Fall Out Boy my freshman year, I was hooked.

Body image can have a profound impact on an individual's self-perception. For many students, high school is a time filled with insecurity and doubt, fueled by the need for peer acceptance. Students often feel the need to conform to attain unrealistic societal standards of beauty. However, once students transition to college, there is a shift in their perception of body image.

Wildlife at Ohio University comes in all shapes and sizes—towering trees on College Green, grazing deer at Emeriti Park or even buzzing bees outside Baker University Center. Despite their diverse appearances, all organisms play an equal role in fostering a thriving natural world. Preservation and protection of campus wildlife are essential to ensure a flourishing ecosystem in a place so many call home.

Scrolling on TikTok has been a main source of entertainment for me and many others for a few years now. Social media is bound to change over time, but the changes happening now are not my favorite. TikTok is so different than what it used to be with the new TikTok Shop, and I’m not sure it’s a good difference, considering it seems like I am just watching ads for knock-off products. TikTok Shop is and has been changing the app in a weird and negative way.

One year ago, I joined The Post as an outsider to become the first Equity Director. I was extremely nervous; I didn't know a single person, and I had no clue how this position would work in practice. I had very little guidance to turn to as positions like mine were just starting to emerge, both in the journalism industry and the workforce as a whole. I had ideas, but could I execute them? Would I make an impact at all, or would this become a fruitless endeavor?
