I have always loved tennis. My mom made sure that I knew who Roger Federer was by the time I was 10 years old. I had a racket, although I was never very good and half of my wardrobe currently consists of tennis skirts. So, it probably comes as no surprise that I have purchased a ticket to see Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” for the third time.

Senior night in Bird Arena brought plenty of emotions, with five players set to graduate at the end of the semester. Ohio knew it had to bring the passion, especially after getting swept by Liberty the previous weekend. Ohio wasn’t going to take a loss to Drexel, and the dominant 6-1 victory it earned proved that. The energy that the team had seemingly lost last weekend was back, and it especially showed in the second period. Ohio is set to take on Liberty again next weekend, but after that, it will be looking ahead to the ACHA National Tournament. The victory against Drexel helped Ohio to show that it could still be a formidable presence in the national tournament. Here are the numbers to know from the win.

Ohio is coming off a tough weekend. Its storied rival, Liberty, ended up completing a sweep against Ohio, securing victory with a 3-4 score on both nights. The Flames were playing with a lot of grit and speed, and the Bobcats simply lacked the energy to keep up. This was a consistent issue for the Bobcats at the beginning of the season, but it has since dissipated. Now that it’s rearing its horns once again, Ohio needs to bounce back with a win this weekend. Facing Drexel in just one game on Saturday, here is everything you need to know about the matchup.

Brookville is a town about 20 miles outside of Dayton with a population of just barely 6,000 people. It’s one of those towns where everyone knows everything about everyone else, like something out of “Friday Night Lights.” In that same vein, there isn’t much to do there, so most people flock to the local high school football games to cheer on their favorite rivalries. Virtually every athletic kid ended up playing football, so how did Noah Holt end up on skates?

Ohio is not a team that backs down from a fight, and it proved that with its revenge win against Maryville on Saturday. The 5-1 victory was a welcome change from the 1-2 overtime loss the Bobcats suffered against the Saints on Friday. Maryville’s quick offense was nearly silenced by Ohio’s defense. The defense was Ohio’s biggest strength this weekend, playing with a fierce consistency that kept Maryville at bay in both games. Here are the numbers you need to know from Saturday’s victory:

Ohio geared up to take on one of its biggest rivals this weekend — a small private school whose colors are white and red and whose name starts with "M." No, it wasn’t Miami, which Ohio faced on Friday, it was Maryville, a team it has quite the storied history against. Despite putting up an impressive fight against the Saints' quick offense, the Bobcats' overall record against them fell to 3-4 after a 1-2 overtime loss. A lack of energy and ability to follow through was what Head Coach Lionel Mauron cited as the reasons for the game being such a close one.

In hockey, being on the penalty kill is almost always a bad thing. The team on the kill is playing with one less man on the ice, and it makes it way more difficult to defend against the other team moving down the ice into scoring position.

Correction appended: An earlier version of this story stated that Garrett Alderman has played in nine out of the last 10 games that have been victories for Ohio. This is incorrect, Alderman has played in 10 games total, nine of which Ohio has won. The story has been updated to reflect this.

Ohio showed off both its offensive and defensive skillset against Oswego State and proved that it was still a team to be reckoned with in the ACHA. Syracuse didn’t just have to face Ohio in Bird Arena this weekend, it also had to compete against the raucous energy of the crowd. Family weekends at Ohio University always draw big crowds to Bird, and this year’s Dad’s Weekend was no exception. The Bobcats fed off the energy of the sold-out crowd and pulled off a dominant 7-0 shutout. Head Coach Lionel Mauron thinks the energy gave the Bobcats the boost they needed.
