Hello to my fellow seamheads and Twin Takes readers. I am back after a hiatus, in which I was uninspired so I simply didn’t waste the editors’ time. Today, I am talking about the Pittsburgh Pirate's season, and most importantly, the fact that I was right in my season-preview column. In said article, I predicted the Pirates would win at least 70 games, and boy was I correct. I won’t pretend that I’m right all the time, but to quote Charles Barkley, “I may be mistaken, but I am never wrong.” Anyway, let’s just jump right into it.

To all of my seamheads out there who have watched the Pirates struggle year after year, this one's for you. I have been a Pittsburgh Pirates fan ever since I was a wee lad. Unfortunately, when I started paying more attention to them, they were actually good. This is unfortunate because when they started being normal and stinking again, I thought it was unusual. It has been a tough adjustment for me to learn to yearn for mediocrity. However, I am an optimist and I believe the Pirates have sneakily improved this offseason.

Today is a good day for a rant. I am back after several months of inactivity due to being uninspired. However, as an active goofball on Twitter, I have seen complaints about the new MLB rule changes for the 2023 season. I know the readers of The Post have been dying to hear my opinions, so I decided to give you, the reader, what you have been without for so long.

Twin Takes has been mostly focused on the current events in the main American sporting leagues such as the NFL and MLB. But one of the best parts of America is that there are many kinds of opportunities in professional sports. Just off the top of my head I can list football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf and boxing. But there is so much more and it is part of what makes this country great. So today, my friends, we will mix it up. We’re talking cornhole with a spotlight on Gabe Dolen.

Admittedly, I have only just gotten back into baseball this current season. Even more embarrassing to admit however, is that I am a Pirates fan. Pay attention to that line. I am a Pirates fan, but not a proud Pirates fan. Bob Nutting is one of the top five worst sports owners in America, but I digress. Unfortunately, the baseball played in October is the postseason, and the Pirates have not made so little as a wild card berth since 2015. I miss the days of competitive baseball in Pittsburgh, but since I can’t talk about that, I will go on a rant instead.

The AFC North is always a bloodbath. It was that way when the Browns were 0-16 and Andy Dalton was propelling the Bengals to perpetual middle of the pack finishes. This year is no different. There are three, possibly four (if the Steelers learn how to play offense), division championship contenders this year.

Sports talk has gone down a path of clicks over credibility. We have seen them spout outtakes without shame, only to contradict themselves the following week. Follow Skip Bayless on Twitter for a week if you don't believe me. Not to pile on the modern media, but I'm tired of two grown men way past their primes arguing about whether Lebron James or Michael Jordan is better.
