Since the suffragettes secured women's right to vote, women’s rights have been on the rise. Women have successfully gained the ability to live independently, manage their own finances and secure the same jobs as men. For more than a century, the Marching 110 has represented Ohio University, collected awards, entertained fans and hyped up fellow Bobcats in the stands during performances. After all these years, the marching band is getting its own practice facility, called Hurley Field, to be open in time for the 2026 season.

When a resident is locked out of their dorm, they go to their resident advisor for help. When they have roommate issues, they go to their RA. When there is any little issue in the dorm, they go to them again for help. RAs are important student staff workers, but are also the most underappreciated and overworked employees in housing.

Ohio Hockey collaborated with the Marching 110 Friday night during the game against the University of Pittsburgh. They launched special jerseys inspired by the 110’s uniforms. The band performed throughout Friday’s game, and the event pulled a sold-out crowd.

Over winter break, I had dinner with friends from high school. Most of them are in long-term relationships, so it was no surprise that marriage came up in conversation. During the break at home, I discovered my ex-boyfriend proposed to his girlfriend of less than a year. Hearing peers tying the knot makes me think about what is expected for my age. Since my ex and I broke up less than a year ago, I felt like I was almost the one tossing the bouquet, which I felt too young to do.

With this holiday season coming to a close and rounding out the past year, New Year's resolutions are officially in full swing for students at Ohio University and beyond. These resolutions include a variety of plans ranging from reinventing oneself, to accomplishing goals and many participating in the increasingly popular Dry January, cutting out all alcohol entirely until the first month of the year has passed.

Monday morning, over 100 Ohio University students, faculty and staff gathered at Galbreath Chapel to commemorate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Members of The Post joined the Celebration Silent March led by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Celebratory Brunch held by OU’s Center for Student Engagement & Leadership to remember and honor Dr. King’s contribution to upholding the freedoms upon which our newsroom is built: speech and press.
