Between the current Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal and Snapchat losing $11 billion over a tweet, it has been a strange yet controversial last couple of months for the tech industry. President Donald Trump, a vocal opponent of Silicon Valley, tweeted out his grievances, this time towards e-commerce giant Amazon.

On Jan. 23, 2014, then 19-year-old Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida for drag-racing in a local neighborhood. The arresting officer stated that Bieber (under the influence of marijuana, alcohol, and Xanax) had been acting belligerent. Soon after, he was taken into custody due to continuously taking his hands off of his vehicle and refusing to comply with basic police commands. The next day, he was released on $2,500 bond and took a plea deal in August that included 12 hours of anger management classes and make a donation to the “Our Kids” organization. That’s it – end of story.

It’s that time of the year where basketball fans and pundits begin to argue over the year's MVP. Last year’s winner was Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook. His record 42 triple-doubles probably helped him win it.

Valentine's Day, when singles have to live through another day of seeing couples post cheesy snapchat stories and even cringier Instagram posts depicting their love and appreciation for each other (while subtweeting each other almost every other day of the year). Meanwhile, hopeless romantics are set with their annual Feb. 14 plans: binge-watch The Office, devour a pizza and, for those of age, top off your night with whatever alcohol is in reach to help heal your broken heart.

Most 11-year-olds have an outlined set of priorities during a school day among themselves: dominating in four square during recess, coming up with the best food items to trade during lunch and copying their friend’s homework right before the bell rings. But, there is also one more priority that every kid should have: getting to know their diverse group of peers.

Despite being nearly 20 years since the release of “Changes,” Tupac Shakur’s lyrics and message are still relevant today. Whether it be addressing issues of teenage pregnancy in rough communities or slamming the harsh realities of rape culture, Tupac touched the hearts of many people.

The 12 different tabs and numerous opened files on my laptop are extremely similar to my life: a beautiful, yet scattered mess. Closing one tab, I automatically open another and seamlessly begin working on another project. As I wrote this on a typical, late Tuesday in Alden Library (what feels like my second home), I couldn't help to want to give up several times. “It’s late, it’s sweltering hot, I’m tired, I’ve studied enough.” Excuses continue to pop into my mind at a rapid-fire rate, yet my will to succeed acts as a shield to those menacing pathogens of laziness. Of course, I can’t always say this has been the case. These “late night” study sessions in high school typically ended the same way: I would’ve called it a night at 10 p.m., and go early to binge-watch Family Guy and munch on a half-empty bag of Doritos.

Trash-talking has always been a vital aspect of every sport, especially basketball. It’s not uncommon to see opposing players at the same caliber skill-wise exchanging a few words to try and get in their head. There's nothing wrong with that, as it spices things up and we see who has the better mental game.

Frantically refreshing my Instagram feed for the third time in the last three minutes, I quickly put my thumb over the notifications icon. I didn’t want to know the exact number of likes and comments; rather wanting the amount to be a surprise, I automatically went to my picture itself.

As a columnist for The Post covering political issues, 99 percent of the time my articles are pretty depressing. Why? Well, it could be due to the fact that the United State’s (and the rest of our world’s for that matter) political atmosphere has been relatively bleak with few instances of optimism. Particularly with the news of the Las Vegas shootings, the hurricanes that have rocked the Southern portion of the US and Puerto Rico and the continuing harrowing opioid epidemic, it’s been a rough month. Therefore, I am going to try and write something positive and uplifting for this week’s column, and what better way to do that then to write about the Hindu Festival of Lights, otherwise known as Diwali.

My 11-year-old self sat there in pure shock, fully engaged at in the final rap battle of 8 Mile and how B-Rabbit, the protagonist of the film played by Eminem, had just lyrically destroyed Papa Doc, the film’s main antagonist. I looked around at my two friends, whose faces were also locked in awe, all of us realizing we had just heard more swear words in 90 minutes than most of our entire lives. Of course; my friend’s parents thought we had been watching Iron Man 2, not aware that we had just witnessed gang violence, illegal drug use, nudity and constant profanity — on a screen.

Will I stay awake in class today? Where can I get an internship this summer? Is good kid, m.A.A.d city better than To Pimp a Butterfly?

Who remembers the iconic image from the 2016 NBA finals? I remember sitting in Buffalo Wild Wings with my eyes wide open in shock and my jaw literally dropping to that moment. The King has spoken I thought in awe. To this day, I will always wonder what Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James said to Golden State Warrior’s two-time MVP Stephen Curry during the intense moments of Game 6. (On a more relatable note, within this picture Moe’s queso is LeBron James and Chipotle queso is Steph Curry...in other words, stay in your lane, Chipotle).
