The Ohio Bobcats (3-2, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) took on Buffalo (0-7, 0-7 Mid-American Conference) tonight in a conference matchup at The Convo Thursday night. The Bobcats defeated the Bulls 3-0 after a long-fought match in which the Bobcats spent much time down. Errors plagued both sides of the court throughout the match but did not stop the teams from showing their talents.

The Bobcats (2-2, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) are back in The Convo this week to take on Buffalo in a two-game series Feb. 11 and Feb. 12. This series is a conference match-up and will affect Ohio’s standing in the MAC East.

Ali Johnstone has been the head coach of Ohio’s field hockey team since the 2018 season, returning to the staff after spending six seasons at Northwestern. However, Johnstone’s journey with the Bobcats began before her coaching career. Johnstone played for Ohio during her college career and left as one of the most prominent field hockey players in Bobcat history.

The Ohio field hockey team announced Tuesday its 14-game schedule featuring 12 regular-season games against MAC opponents. The other two games will be against future MAC opponent Bellarmine University. The Bobcats play eight games at home this season while the other six will be played on the road.

Field hockey has been a part of Ohio University’s history dating back to the 1960s. Traditionally, it’s a female sport played during the fall, but the Mid-American Conference elected to postpone this upcoming season to the spring.
