It took longer than expected, but Ohio kicked off the 2021 season over the course of two days against Central Michigan. The Bobcats and Chippewas originally were supposed to play a game on Friday and Saturday but after a campus-wide power outage stopped play near the end of set two, the two squads converted their series into a doubleheader on Saturday.

After having Tuesday’s game postponed, Ohio (7-6, 3-4 Mid-American Conference) will finally have a chance to get back on the court Friday when it faces Ball State in The Convo. The Bobcats defeated the Cardinals earlier in the season, but it wasn’t easy. Friday’s game is expected to produce another tough contest between the two Mid-American Conference foes.

Prior to Saturday’s game, Caitlyn Kroll wasn’t her usual self. Last week, she went 0-5 from 3-point range during Ohio’s loss to Central Michigan. It was the rock bottom of a slump that pushed down her 3-point shooting percentage to 22% and her confidence even lower.

With 2:11 left to play in Tuesday’s game against Northern Illinois, Ohio was dangerously close to surrendering its lead to the Huskies. The Bobcats led NIU for most of the game, but a 9-2 run late in the second half cut the Bobcats lead to three. Ohio coach Jeff Boals called a timeout and snatched the drawing board from an assistant so he could figure out what to do.
