The Ohio University Recruiting Society, or OURS, held its annual multicultural variety show April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Baker University Center Ballroom. There were a variety of performances and each act reflected the organization’s energetic and positive characteristics.

Runners from all over the country gathered together on the corner of South College Street and East Union Street at 8 a.m. to participate in either the 13.1-mile half marathon or the 26-mile marathon. Athens has held this marathon annually since 1968, and each year Athens garners more and more runners.

It was the 51st year of the Athens International Film and Video Festival, and that meant another year of dog-themed advertisements spread across Ohio University’s campus and moviegoers converging at the Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court St. According to the film festival website, it is “known globally as a festival that supports cinema from underground and marginalized populations.”

Ping Recreation Center now offers new equipment geared toward relaxation, recovery and mindfulness, but the additional equipment is part of a larger project that Well-Being and Recreation and also Counseling and Psychological Services, or CPS, partnered on together to create a space for people within Ping that focuses on mental and social health and social well-being.

In November, Athens City Council discontinued the not-for-profit AHRC’s contract and opted for the Cincinnati-based Rumpke. Attendees urged council members to dissolve the city’s solid waste collection contract with Rumpke to support local sustainability efforts that AHRC would uphold.
