Student senate town hall addresses student concerns

Around $450,000 in diversity scholarships are being reviewed

President Lori Stewart Gonzalez, Vice President for Enrollment Management Candace Boeninger and Stacey Bennett, general counsel for OU’s legal department, gave an update to the Faculty Senate Monday night regarding where the university is at with reviewing the scholarships aimed at aiding people of diverse communities.

Diversity scholarships, legal protections for faculty threatened

Following last summer’s Supreme Court decision on affirmative action and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s interpretation of the case, administrators have allegedly warned faculty they could be individually liable for any scholarship lawsuits. In tandem, many diversity scholarships may not be awarded for the 2024-2025 school year.

Heat problems continue at Ping Center

Although the exact cause of the HVAC problems is unknown, Mingran Ma, associate director of communications and engagement for Well-Being and Recreation Services, said the most likely causes, and those they have submitted for work orders for, are faulty electrical controls and inadequate airflow.
