Post Letter: Guaranteed tuition will be bad for OU students

The guaranteed-tuition proposal that Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit and Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding are going to present to Student Senate might seem like an idea to help students’ financial troubles, but sadly it is just another effort by the administration and the Board of Trustees to make it easier to raise tuition.

Post Column: Sunday was lonely for the football-illiterate

Silence hung in the air like a thick cloud as I walked down the empty streets of Athens. Snow was falling gently around me, covering the city in a blanket of soft white. I cupped my hands around my mouth and cried out into the white void:

Post Letter: Gun control doesn't remove violence

Restricting citizens’ access to firearms and/or ammunition is a shortsighted and wrong-headed approach to the problem of people killing others with guns. Determined killers will find any means to kill, but unarmed citizens are only ripe and defenseless targets. Though the killing of the innocent Sandy Hook Elementary School children was certainly tragic and outrageous, any deranged and determined killer could have used a bomb or a number of other means to inflict such mayhem. The fact that he chose to use an “assault”-type semi-automatic rifle to carry out this heinous crime had no bearing on his ability or intent to commit mass murder. Access to his mother’s guns may have offered him some convenience, but this crazed young man would have no doubt concocted another diabolical scheme to kill had they not been available.

BedPost: To figure out if he's into you, talk it out

I met this guy the other day. He and I have been hanging out every day. I have had my fair share of relationships like this, where we hang out, make out and sometimes do more. It all seems good for a few weeks/ months but eventually fizzles out, usually because they “don’t want to be serious.” How can I tell if he wants to be serious? I know it is too soon for either of us to be thinking about a relationship, but I like him a lot. What signs should I look for if I want to know if he is into me for more than just hook-ups?
