Not knowing how long she'd be gone, Hight drew all over the board as fast as he could. Today marks the end of the 35th annual Athens International Film and Video Festival. I hope that many people have had the chance to check out some of the fascinating and unusual films offered by the festival this past week. I know that, personally, I wish I had time to check out more, but am immensely satisfied with the films that I did see.

Your Turn: Concealed carry unneeded, not a citizen's absolute right

We've come to the end of a week of protests by the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. I would like to take this moment to point out that there are exceptions to all rights, including the right to speech and the expression of religion. Libel and slander are certainly not protected by the amendments to the Constitution, and you can't kill a person with those. There are exceptions to each of our rights as far as they are concerned with making sure that society as a whole is safe and reasonable for others from those rights.

Community center might increase fees

The Athens Community Center could see an increase in fees for rentals but does not plan on cutting any of its programs after its budget was cut by more than $100,000. -
