Green With Envy: Best option for green shopping not paper or plastic

Paper or plastic ' the eternal question. For Whole Foods, it's only paper from now on. These stores sell organic and natural food, and they are aiming to help the environment even more by banning plastic bags in favor of recycled paper bags. While an admirable move ' I won't deny that ' it begs the question: Why does it have to be paper or plastic?

Mr. Right: Hillary Clinton the best choice for Democrats in '08

Hillary Clinton is not my favorite Democratic presidential candidate. If I could choose, I would pick John Edwards for his bold, progressive agenda. It has nevertheless become clear that the Democratic primary race is a contest between Clinton and Barack Obama, with each picking up victories in crucial caucuses and primaries. Given a choice between these two, Democratic primary voters should choose Clinton. Unlike Obama, she has spent her career demonstrating that she can and will bring about substantive change for the American people. Also unlike Obama, she refuses to dream the impossible dream that, in politics, everyone can get along.

Your Turn: Class offerings not sufficient

A growing problem I have seen take shape over the past few quarters as a junior organizational communication student at Ohio University is the difficulty I and many of my peers have enrolling in the courses we need to graduate on time. The problem: Scripps College of Communication does not offer enough courses and/or spots in courses offered (COMS 110, 205, 206, 215 and 235) that are required by the university for each communication major to graduate.

Your Turn: Ohio University campus seems to be losing its sense of humor

I've noticed a couple of things about OU students in the last few years. Some of them aren't so good. They like to wear pajamas to class; it's all the better if their clothing reminds them of which university they're attending. They don't really pay attention to their surroundings, whether it's bottlenecking the escalators, crossing the streets despite oncoming traffic or walking four wide on the sidewalks. Some things I've noticed are really good. OU students are active in a lot of issues, campus and otherwise. They tend to be pretty respectful of each other. And I feel like they really are dedicated to their studies, despite the party school reputation. But there's a trend I've noticed lately that makes me a little nervous.
