The White House and the news media are linking the president’s threat of blockading the Strait of Hormuz to the failed bilateral negotiations.
Newspapers endorsing presidential and down ballot candidates has been a long-standing practice in the U.S. However, the owners of The Washington Post and the Los Angeles times have decided not to endorse a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
The fear that Donald Trump is a threat to American democracy and would act as a dictator if elected is getting louder and more frequent.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, just confirmed that Israel would hold an indefinite security role in Gaza after the fighting ends. An indefinite security role is simply a euphemism for occupying the territory.
Although the calls by Israeli citizens for retribution, retaliation and elimination of the Hamas leadership are very understandable, the Israeli military and civilian leadership do not have the luxury of letting emotion determine their response.
Anyone who thinks that the right-wing extremists will now declare victory and go home needs to pay attention.
