Young Thug, Jauz to headline 15Fest

“Pick up the Phone” and call the “Best Friend” because the Number Fest lineup has been announced, according to Billboard.

The first headliners announced include Young Thug and Jauz, who will perform on Saturday alongside 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, Louis the Child, Cheat Codes, Blackbear, Party Thieves, Quinn XCII, ayokay and Jerreau, according to a tweet from the Number Fest account. Waka Flocka Flame, who has previously been to Athens, Herobust, Crankdat and YOOKiE will perform on Friday. An additional headliner will be released at a later day, according to Billboard.

Some people reacted on Twitter:

Young Thug, a hip-hop artist, is known for his songs “Best Friend” and “Stoner,” which peaked at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively, on Billboard’s R&B and Hip-Hop Airplay Chart. Young Thug’s most listened to song on Spotify, “Pick up the Phone,” has been streamed more than 100 million times, and the artist has approximately 7.8 million monthly listeners.

“I am really excited. … I’m a big fan of them all,” Anna Nadicksbernd, a sophomore studying retail merchandising and fashion product design, said. “I feel like they’re all big artists, and I think they’re going to be bigger artists.”

Jauz is known as an electronic dance music artist. With more than one million monthly listeners on Spotify, he has worked with and gotten support from Asap Mob, Childish Gambino, Zedd, Skrillex, Diplo and Borgore.

Lois Briedenstein, a sophomore studying communication, went to last year’s Number Fest featuring trap artist Fetty Wap. She said she loved the atmosphere and did not expect the two-day concert to be as big as it was.

“I (am) surprised by how many big names they got,” she said, regarding this year’s lineup.

Last year, Prime Social Group brought The Chainsmokers and Lil Dicky to Athens. Other noteworthy artists that have performed at Number Fest concerts include Diplo, G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar.

Among the opening acts, 21 Savage has the most monthly listeners on Spotify with almost 7 million. Lil Yachty has more than 3 million monthly listeners and Waka Flocka Flame has almost three million.

“I’m pretty excited,” Joey Hasseltine, a junior studying communication studies, said. “Young Thug is a big role model of mine.”

Hasseltine likes the way Young Thug treats his fans, and said he will definitely be going to this year’s Number Fest.

“I’m just looking forward to jamming to some tunes,” he said.
