OUPD issues crime alert for alleged rape on South Green

A white male in his late 20s is wanted for rape, according to a crime alert released by the Ohio University Police Department on Sunday morning.

At about 5 a.m. Sunday, a female reported to OUPD that a man raped her after walking her back to her residence hall room in Armbruster House on South Green at about 4 a.m., according to the report.

The male was described as having short dark hair and wearing khaki pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt.

The case is under investigation. According to the department’s website, OUPD issues crime alerts when an incident poses a threat to students, faculty or staff.

The crime alert is the third one OUPD released this academic year for an alleged rape.

The first was issued on Nov. 2 when a female reported she had been raped in Sowle Hall.

On Dec. 2, OUPD sent out an alert for an alleged rape. Someone other than the victim reported the crime, and the case is no longer under investigation.
