A boil order is in effect for Ohio University’s West Green after a water main break occurred Friday afternoon.
The water main break affects West Green including The Convo and everything south of the Hocking River, Nick Joseph, Athens division of water supervisor, said. The city issued a boil order, which is set to expire at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The break has since been repaired. Joseph said it took 15 hours to excavate and rebuild the section of piping, which ruptured near Stocker Center.
According to OU’s website, bottled water will be given out at Boyd Hall for the duration of the boil order.
It isn’t the first time a boil order has been issued on campus this semester. In February, a water main break forced OU to close for a day while repairs were made.
